Astrojazz presents Eska Mtungwazi Band Live in
Scotland
 Astrojazz,
with support from The Scottish Arts Council's
Scottish music touring fund, Tune Up, is proud to
present the internationally acclaimed vocalist,
songwriter and performer Eska Mtungwazi on her debut
Scottish Tour, accompanied by some of the UK's
finest musicians.
Eska
Mtungwazi will be bringing her acclaimed band to
Scotland for a series of performances. This will be
a unique opportunity for audiences to sample the
talents of one of the world's most in-demand,
exciting and original artists. Her fusions of soul,
jazz, hip-hop, folk and world music, her unique
vocal style and impeccable musicianship has
guaranteed her fans around the globe after
collaborations with artists as diverse as Nitin
Sawhney, Tony Allen, Ty, Cinematic Orchestra, Damon
Albarn and Courtney Pine.
Her band consists of some of the most in demand
players in the UK: Julian Ferraretto (Natasha Atlas/Carleen
Anderson - Violin/Mandonin), Robin Malarkey (Zero 7/Roisin
Murphy/Bembe Segue - Bass), David Okumo (4hero/Bugz
In The Attic - Electric Guitar) and Tom Skinner
(Zero 7/Jade Fox - Drums). Previous performances
include the North Sea Jazz Festival, London's Jazz
Cafè and the Montreaux Jazz Festival.
Eska is a charismatic performer with a vocal that
moves effortlessly between jazz, hip-hop, folk and
African influences. Her band that easily matches her
range and dynamism while keeping it tight and funky.
